the Rosehaven Penpal Club
This year has been a year of loss and reflection for me. I lost my best friend Alli, and with that grief came an unexpected wish, that I had written more letters. Not just quick text messages, but real words on paper. Letters that could be tucked into a drawer, reread, and held in hand when needed most.
There’s something powerful about slowing down long enough to write to someone you care about. The scratch of pen on paper, the thought that goes into each word, the feeling of finding something meaningful in your mailbox instead of another bill, it reminds us of the connections that make life beautiful.
Rosehaven Penpal Club was born.
What Is the Rosehaven Penpal Club?
Starting October 1, I’ll be opening the doors to a simple subscription designed to bring a little happiness and connection into your month. Each Rosehaven penpal subscription will receive two postcards in the mail:
- A postcard from me to you my penpal, featuring a picture of one of the Rosehaven farm animals on the front, with a fun fact. On the back, I’ll share a personal note about what’s been happening here on the farm that month.
- A matching postcard for you to send with the same farm animal photo and fun fact on the front, but with the back left blank in the traditional postcard style. This way, you can write your own note to a friend, grandchild, or loved one and pass along the connection.
Along with the postcards, you’ll also get a QR code and link to meet the farm animal of the month online so you can see their personality up close.
Subscriptions will be mailed out on the second Friday of every month, giving you something to look forward to and share.
Why Postcards?
Because postcards are small but mighty reminders to slow down. They don’t demand pages of writing or hours of thought just a few heartfelt sentences. That’s all it takes to let someone know you’re thinking of them.
In a world where we’re constantly scrolling, swiping, and sending half thought out texts, a handwritten postcard feels special. It’s a moment of pause. A way to say: you matter, and I took the time to write to you.
And truthfully, it’s not just about the person receiving the card. Writing slows you down too. It gives you a chance to reflect, to be creative, and to feel more grounded.
A Gentle Invitation
The Rosehaven Penpal Club is my way of inviting you to step back from the busyness of life and reconnect with the land, with animals, and most importantly, with yourself and each other.
Whether you’re a grandparent wanting to keep in touch with your grandkids, a farm animal lover looking for a smile in your mailbox, or simply someone who could use a nudge to unplug and reconnect, this is just for you.
What’s Next
The first set of postcards will mailed out in October, and I couldn’t be more excited to share them with you. While I’m still setting up the website, it will be ready to go live October 1, at 11am.
For now, I’d love for you to think of someone who would smile if a handwritten note from you landed in their mailbox. Hold onto that thought you’ll have the perfect chance to send one their way soon.
Because at the end of the day, it’s not about the postcards or even the farm animals (though they’re pretty cute!). It’s about keeping connections alive, one handwritten note at a time.
