The Day Channel Nine Came to Rosehaven
Rosehaven Farms offers an authentic Grampians farm experience unlike anywhere else. I’ll be honest with you. When we first got asked for Postcards to visit Rosehaven Farms, my first thought was they’ve got the wrong number.
We’re not a resort. We don’t have a chef or a day spa or a rooftop bar. We have muddy boots, a paddock full of miniature donkeys with opinions, mini goats with attitude, sheep and alpacas who will absolutely judge you without warning.
Turns out, that was exactly what they were looking for.
A proper Grampians Winter’s Morning
The crew arrived on a proper Grampians winter’s morning, the kind where the sky can’t quite decide whether to commit to rain or just threaten it all day. Sir Lawrence, King of Diamonds, McKenzie, and White Knight stood at the fence looking magnificent and slightly suspicious, which is honestly their best look.
What Happens When People Arrive at Rosehaven
Watching someone experience Rosehaven for the first time never gets old for me. There’s always a moment usually somewhere between meeting the donkeys and realising the alpacas are genuinely curious about you where something shifts. The shoulders drop. The phone goes in the pocket. They stop being a visitor and start just being here.
That happened with the Postcards crew too. Even in the drizzle.
David and I have built this place slowly, with our hands and a lot of early mornings. Every fence post, every garden bed, every animal has a story. It’s not a set. It’s just our life, and we’ve chosen to open the gate and let people share it.
Having a Channel Nine crew here felt surreal in the best possible way not because it made Rosehaven feel more real, but because it was a reminder that what we’ve quietly built out here in Laharum actually lands with people. That the thing we feel when we’re out in the paddock at dusk, listening to the donkeys settle in for the night other people can feel it too, even through a screen.

Our episode of Postcards airs this Sunday 29 June at 5.30pm on Channel Nine and 9Now. Set a reminder, settle in with a cuppa, and come and see what a winter’s day at Rosehaven looks like on the telly. You can watch Postcards on 9Now

Book a Grampians Farm Experience
And if it makes you want to come and see it for yourself even better. We run small, private farm experiences here at Rosehaven for people who want to slow down for a couple of hours, meet the animals, and breathe some Grampians air. Miniature donkeys, alpacas, goats, sheep, and bees, all on a working farm that’s been built with a lot of love and very muddy boots.
